For sale quality Yamaha CRX-550 CD-RECEIVER System with Sony speakers in superb and clean visual condition but faulty. The unit won’t power up for some reason. The orange light is on and I can hear the click but the unit stays off and I have no idea what happened and why it’s faulty. The system was fine for quite a long time but one day when plugged in it stopped working and that’s the reason I am selling it for spares and repairs only. There are pictures in the gallery showing the system in working order in the past. Generally great, smart looking high quality multi function system with lots of features and clear, detailed sound. DAB, DAB+/FM Radio, CD Player with CD-R, CD-RW and MP3 format, iPod Dock (30-pin) and USB connector on the top of the unit plus option to connect a subwoofer if required. Quality Sony speakers SS-CBX20 complete the system. Original Remote control, DAB/FM Aerial, power lead and printed copy of manual included. The Yamaha CRX550 is very much the mini system for the audiophile.
If you use an iPod or an iPhone a lot then you’ll love this Yamaha mini system. Featuring a built-in dock, you can now charge, control and listen to your iPod/iPhone without the need for wires or separate dock and remote control. Better still, the CRX-550 uses a digital connection for a purer sound quality. Rather than using the Digital to Analogue Convertor (DAC) built in to the iPod or iPhone, the digital signal is passed straight through to the Yamaha’s own DAC. This DAC, which is also used by the CD player, is of very high quality – especially for a mini system. The high grade Burr-Brown DAC means that music from both iPod/iPhone and CD sounds dynamic, detailed and natural.
In addition to the high quality digital components, the CRX-550 also uses a high performance analogue power supply for the amplifier. Designed for low noise and clean power, the 2 x 32 Watt power output is ample to drive a wide range of speakers to higher levels than you might imagine. Other expensive components, including custom-made block capacitors, combine to give class-leading sound quality to match the above average power. Finally, to give a further boost to MP3 or iPod/iPhone music, the Music Enhancer restores data lost during the MP3/AAC/WMA compression process. The result is near CD quality performance with greatly enhanced dynamics.
As well as sounding great, the Yamaha CRX-550 comes equipped with everything you’re likely to need from a mini system. In addition to the digital iPod dock there’s also a USB port. This lets you connect other MP3 players or smart phones and access the music stored on them. Added to this there’s of course the CD player and DAB/DAB+ tuner. With DAB+, the CRX-550 is fully equipped for the future yet can still receive today’s digital broadcasts and those from analogue FM, too.
Built to Yamaha’s usual high standards and with a clean, minimalist look, the Yamaha CRX-550 looks every bit the smart and sophisticated mini system it is. If you love listening to music from your iPod/iPhone and are looking for a mini system that will make the most of it, you need look no further.
