Weiss Engineering is present in two principal sectors: professional audio and high-end Hi-Fi equipment.
The company behind this assault on the highest peaks of Digital to Analog converter is Weiss Engineering Ltd, a Swiss company in Switzerland.
From the outset the company concentrated on the design and manufacture of digital audio equipment for Mastering Studios.The modular 102 Series system was the first product line and was sold worldwide via the Harmonia Mundi Acustica Company in Germany. Even today this system is still up to date (24 Bit/96 kHz).
One of the largest setups of its 102 Series system was used at Sony Music in New York in the form of the IBIS digital mixing console. Sony used it to mix classical music recordings.
Few otherbig name clients: BMG, Warner, EMI, Abbey Road, Teldec, Telarc, Masterdisk,Sterling Sound, Hit Factory, Metropolis, Grundman Mastering and over hundreds more. Quite likely many of the CDs in your collection have been mastered using Weiss equipment.
They have received numerous prestigious awards including these distinguished awards for the DAC 202.

The DAC 202 is immaculately made, just like every Weiss. The unit as a whole feels immensely solid and robust designed to work for decades to come. Its easy to lose sight of that fact when the unit looks the same as products that were designed decades ago. Make no mistake; the reality is an all-new, cutting edge design circuit technique rubbing shoulders with innovative new ideas. This unit represents a ground-up rethink on how a digital-to-analogue converter should be designed. Its a compact unit, measuring just 7.2 cm high and 18.8cm wide (and 30cm deep). The Dac 202 design is typical Swiss, with a simplistic functionality and a minimalistic aesthetic. Theres a small display on the DACs front panel that suits the products understated nature, with a stylised volume control.
Adjusting the Dac 202 settings is easy, because all settings are controlled with a big rotating knob and remote control. It can be connected directly into a power amp or active speakers.
Such a system configuration keeps the signal path short by bypassing the need for a dedicated preamp and the lengths of connecting interconnects used in between. The result is a clearer, more transparent sound.
The story is just as positive through the headphone output and, retains the same admirable sonic characteristics as the line stages.
The DAC 202 doesnt demand the spotlight. It steps out of the way leaving the music to grab all our attention. Handmade in Switzerland.
