A VINTAGE 70’s Wharfedale Super RS 12, 50 Watt RMS, 12″ Stereo Bass Woofer Speaker, 6 Ohm, one #3 of a matched pair (#4), from a Dovedale III Kit 3, ‘web – part number: 102.04, Model 3010’, with precision cast 12″ alloy frame, massive 135,000Maxwells magnet, innovative high extension rubber-roll surround (RS), green felt gasket, solder terminals, as used in quality vintage hi-fi systems, DYNATRON LS4038, UNIT 5, … . Designed and manufactured by Wharfedale, Yorkshire, in 9/1974 (on cone, see pic).
Excellent condition, low distortion high definition woofer driver, stiff bell-node corrugations, this has the large square Gauss magnet and the larger, long-throw voice coil (found in many vintage hi-end speakers …), it sounds clear, crisp and open. Tested 20Hz – 5kHz as seen. Original, genuine, used, wired up when bought, then removed and stored – not seen the light of day for decades!
