Vinage Kenwood SW-700 retro 90’s powered Subwoofer Super Woofer rare
This is a very unusual unit, as it is intended to function as a subwoofer, but has usable response up to about 250Hz, whereas most subwoofers do not respond above 150 Hz. Using a single 8″ woofer firing into a circular labyrinth (hence the unusual “snail shell” configuration) powered by an internal amplifier, this system is designed to add bass to systems lacking low-frequency response, such as computer speakers or home theater units. Its narrow width is intended to fit into tight areas, as the end of the labyrinth radiates rearward via a port. Controls include selectable crossover frequencies of 60, 90, and 120 Hz — but these are shallow enough to allow the aforementioned usable 250 Hz response at the 120 Hz setting. Also included is bass boost and subsonic generator (which synthesizes subharmonics from the input signal similar to some dbx products). And, finally, a white light atop the unit pulses when fed an input signal. As said previously, this is an unusual unit intended to not only reproduce but actually produce bass response (and, via the light, let you know that it’s doing it!). It requires a power connection and a monaural subwoofer RCA-type feed from the amplifier and/or processor. Constructed of charcoal-finished wood, it is 19″ high, 19″ deep, and 11″ wide.
