A double cassette album – Top Gear 2 (tested)
This cassette unit I have owned from new. Tidy unit with slight wear to casing. It had plenty of use when I was younger. It’s certainly not been used for many years now so I’ve taken the time to give it a thorough clean particularly inside the two cassette decks, it wasn’t horrendous but needed it. I have never removed the cover so it’s never had new belts, research showed that belts can still be obtained if needed.
I connected the unit to my amplifier using the cables shown in images, they are the original cables I always used.
I tested both deck A and B using the Top Gear album, playing in both directions, fast forwarding/rewinding, adjusting the Dolby, reverse mode and counter reset. The tapes played through fine.
I was impressed with the sound, even at high volume it sounded good. There was good clarity all round though I did feel that deck B sounded slightly better than deck A.
It also sounded good through headphones, I’ve included a converter to accommodate all headphone socket sizing.
NOTE: The only area not tested is recording, I’ve included an original sealed blank but prefer not to open it. Whilst I cannot guarantee this working, I’m sure it will work fine. I don’t remember any issues when it was in use.
Please be aware that you are purchasing a vintage unit which has been adored and looked after and although I have cleaned and tested it there can be no guarantee to the life of the unit. It would be lovely for it to find a new home to be enjoyed for more years to come.
