This listing isfor the Kenwood stereo amplifier model KA550 in immaculate condition. The amplifierwas recently serviced, all circuit boards were deoxidised, potentiomenters andswitched cleaned multiple times with Deoxit contact cleaner and lubricant. Allcapacitors are Elna and read out within specs. Amp recently purchased in the BHF store,comes with 6 months BHF warranty and has a PAT test valid for another 2 years.
A bit of History:
The KA550 was more affordableaddition to the line of Kenwood amplifiers of ultimate specifications from the 80s. After agreat success of KA 990 and 770 in 1983 Kenwood continued the line throughout the decade. The later models were morecost effective and matched smaller budgets. Unfortunately for Kenwood theiramps were still very expensive in comparison to products from competitive brads, this was due to cutting edgetechnologies used and requirement for high quality components to achieve specifications. Kenwood introduced the KA 550 in 1986 as the smallest amp in the range, however still offering cutting edge sound and whole 50 WPCinto 8 Ohms.
Sound:
The sound is ideally transparent, super controlled and neutral, signal source really matters in this amplifier,it will help lossles formats like Wave, FLAC or CDs to reveal the magic in details and depth. Pin point accurate positioning and the headroom which reveals when summoned by activity in the depth of a stage. The KA 550will compliment vacuum tube pre-amps and buffers carrying out theirwarm sound all the way to the speakers without spoil.
