This a chance to win an outstanding example of the Super Kinabalu platform with small couplers. These do not appear on eBay as customers who purchased them gain such huge benefits that they very rarely appear on the second-hand market.
The cherry veneer is immaculate with no marks and the granite surface has no scratches but would probably benefit from a clean. This particular example comes with the smaller couplers making it discrete to use under components.
So how does it work?
Vertex realised that much of the microphony generated in components is due to vibration that is emanating with the circuits in the components. To deal with this they came up with a novel approach to draining the vibration into a large base that also contains significant EMI absorption material.
Indeed, when HIFI+ reviewed the Kinabalu, they were so amazed at the approach that Roy Gregory of HIFI+ was compelled to devote an entire article to the effects of vibration within the components and how draining this can lead to significant improvement in performance. The Kinabalu was considered to be such an important contribution to high-end audio it made it to the Top 100 in the recent 20-year anniversary issue.
The history of this particular example is that it has been with me since new. I, like many other owners, never parted with it in the 20 years it has been in my possession. A lucky owner will gain immediate benefits from using this under any component although the smaller couplers makes it more appropriate for source components.
