Tektron DHT Valve Preamp Ba Valves. Condition is Used. Collection in person only.
Extremely rare hand built valve preamp, most likely a custom build as there is no record of a commercial offering with these valves from Italian company Tektron.
Has separate volume control for L/R channels for the highest sound quality, like Croft amps. Comes with 4 pairs of the rare Ba valves. Two pairs are the Sif pre war models, which sell for 200+ per valve when they are available (almost never). The other two pairs are the later Siemens model, not quite as good but still superb and worth about 100 each. I bought these for “everyday” listening but since the kids came along I’ve hardly used it and they are NOS. The AZ1 rectifier is a Telefunken mesh plate, there is also a Valvo globe mesh plate and two NOS Mullards.
The valves therefore are worth more than the asking price alone, so you’re getting the amp as a freebie! Please note a couple of dinks to the wooden case on the back, not visible from the front of course. There’s a bit of a buzz at very high volumes when not playing music but nothing you can notice when there is anything playing. This is quite normal with most valve amps. The knobs inside (bias?) might reduce this but I don’t want to do anything I don’t understand and it really isn’t noticeable at normal volumes.
