With no capacitor used for signal processing, this compact DC power amp boasted superb amplification performance up to the direct-current level and faithful phase characteristics. In addition to stereo mode operation, it had a high-power monaural drive mode. In the first stage, the SE-C01 employed dual transistors with uniform temperature characteristics for the differential amplification of the current mirror load. This enabled high DC stability and minimised harmful DC drift. The voltage amplification stage employed a pure resistance load to improve the distortion properties of the open loop, and maintained low distortion in the driver stage and output stage. Operation was also very stable against power transistor temperature fluctuations. And the pulse power supply contributed to reducing the size of the power transformer. The precision-finished die-cast cabinet enhanced its appearance.
The SU-C01 preamp came with a built-in head amp for MC cartridges. The first stage of the phono equaliser employed low-noise transistors and constituted a differential amplifier for the current mirror load, thus achieving an excellent S/N ratio. It also had a low-noise MC pre/pre-main amp. All these features contributed to low noise and low-output impedance. The power transformer of the SU-C01 was housed in an iron case with a high magnetic shielding effect. The extensive low-noise design included the use of low-noise Zener diodes in the constant-voltage circuit for suppressing noise generation in the power supply line. On the outside, the product featured a precision-finish die-cast cabinet.
