TECHNICS SL-D2 Auto -*Rare Black Edition* + *EPC 270c Cartridge*, *ONE OF THE BEST*.  *MULTIPLE AWARD WINNER*. SEE ALL PHOTOS.*Serviced.*This is a Brilliant Rare Black Technics SL-D2 turntable – one of Audio’s Most Iconic models. *In itstime, the SL-D2 was a US Stereo Review MagazineHi-Fi Grand Prix Award Winner. We have owned several Quality Turntables over many years. Among them a Technics SL-1210, SL-10, Linn LP12, Garrards and others, and even in this company still rate this Technics SL-D2 very highly. You could pay a lot more and not get seriously more value in Sound Quality or Simple Durability and Absolute Reliability. Condition of the unit offered for sale here isvery good indeed – it is a Serviced, Single Owner unit with Two Services in Recent years. The Plinth, Platter and Mat etc. are in superb condition. The Tone Arm, Weights and Associated bits are Brilliantly Sparkly and just about as Good as New! The machine reproduces sound as Good as any High End Machine, offering Brilliant Clarity and Detail with Fantastic Imaging. Seems asimple assumption, but like its older brother, the SL-1200; the better thecartridge used, the better performance is (right up until it becomes silly tospend more). Many other units I have used have a much lower ‘improvement’ceiling. This unit can with the right cartridge, placement and additionalanti-resonant material, come close to, if not even rival its superior relativeabove. We used at various times Shure 75/97 Cartridges, Audio Technica 12/14sa, Denon, Stanton, Dynavector, etc. We have re-installed the original Technics EPC 270C Cartridge. This is a good unit. In recent years some have used replacement Styli from Jico, that as recorded online elevates the cartridge from good to brilliant. Overall, this is a fantastic machine in excellent condition. From personal experience, the SL-D2 is an extremelyunfussy machine that works very well anywhere. However, it is particularly good with vintage Marantz, Pioneer SX series and similar amplification. This is a MUCH better thanaverage unit that carries Technics legendary Direct Drive reliability. Asimply superb machine that easily outperforms many contemporary units offeredon the High Street right now. Given the prices reached on eBay and other Audiosites in recent years, the performance capability of this model range isabsolutely no longer a secret. It’s a workhorse of a turntable that has outlasted a lotof other equipment in my life. I still use it regularly, mostly for rock andblues in my second system. Great piece of equipment in my opinion. isotonic: I love the SL-D2.It is a solid turntable. illini: It’s a darn goodtable. Keep it for life.KentTeffeteller: The SL D2 is good enough to make you sit and listen to lots ofrecords setup carefully with a good cartridge. Owning one made me rediscover myvinyl. And it is more than good turntable wise. And reliable and well-made andhas a good tonearm which is great with many MM, MI, and some MC cartridges.
