Legendary TDL Studio 0.5 transmission line audiophile speakers in black ash. Dating from 1991 they are in absolutely superb condition as can be seen, no damage or dings both cabinets are beautiful, always polished with beeswax they have a lovely lustre. Complete with the rare but essential metal plinths and spikes and both speaker grills, again in mint condition, all securing tabs intact and no holes or pulls to the cloth. High quality biwire terminals.
Metal dome tweeter with protective grills, both tweeters and drivers are in mint condition with no dents or damage.
Transmission line foam is also undamaged. They look more like a new speaker than circa 1991!
Built in a time when Tdl and IMF ruled the transmission line speaker market they have a small footprint @ 29×11.5×8 inches.
They sound staggering! Bass is shockingly low, tight and musical and they go all the way down to 25hz. Midrange is silky smooth and treble is crisp and extended, they create a massive soundstage extending well outside the their placement both vertically and horizontally. If you have never heard a pair of these speakers you will be shocked how good they are.
Very easy to drive with tubes or solid state I have used them with Bryston, Quad and Audio Innovation amplifiers with excellent results.
Very revealing speakers indeed and absolutely superb with vinyl.
A very rare vintage speaker that does not come up for sale often especially in such immaculate condition!
