Sony TC-152SD Professional Stereo Cassette Recorder DolbyB Vintage Rare This is the pre Walkman portable stereo cassette player(and recorder), although at 4.9kgs (no batteries), its not exactly lightweight!Its part of Sonys Professional range, when used with a shoulderstrap, allows easy use of the controls, adjustment of recording levels against easyto see level meters and operate a back light and battery check, all with onehand. This means the other hand can hold the microphone, if necessary.It has 2 heads, tape select (normal and CrO) andDolby Noise Reduction B.Two microphone inputs (leftand right), with analogue VU meters. Please see images of the unit, all the way round. This comes from someone who looked after equipment suchas this, (he was in the telecoms business), it is no wonder its in such goodcondition for its age.It plays fine, although recording was not tested, as wehave no blank just a couple of prerecorded tapes. Hailing from the late 70s (I believe about 1978), itused some of the first integrated Circuits for the amplification function.Together with other power saving circuitry, it could operate on batteries, makingit truly portable in the field. Comes with original mains lead. The personal version of this appeared a year later, in1979, as the Sony Walkman, although as a player only and considerably lighter.. As a consequence of its weight and when packed, it willcost a lot to post. Pick up from Farnborough, Hants, is of course welcome, otherwisethe cost to post is 14.82 with Parcel Farce.
