SONY RCD-W3CD recorderPower board PCB6870R6692BBPN 102SUNG WEI 08V0-A0229
I recently got my Sony RCD-W3 out and was not surprised when drawers failed to open/close properly and suspected that drive belts were in poor condition, so got new ones and fitted to both decks/drawers, that seemed to fix the problem and both drawers were opening/closing correctly (the old belts were stuck in a very non circular shape). I tried the deck A (playback deck) and it played a pre-recorded CD fine and drawer responded correctly. I similarly tried deck B (playback/recorder deck) and it also performed flawlessly, I also tried a CD-R Music CD and it recognised it and all was OK.
After 24 hours I again tried the same tests and deck A (playback deck) was again giving problems with drawer opening/closing. On closer inspection, it seems that the mechanical transport which lifts/lowers when the drawer opens/closes was not operating as it should, when opening the drawer, the lens assembly frame should go down to allow the drawer to open, however a slight (very very slight) downward pressure was required to start the downward motion, after which it all operated correctly and closed/lifted correctly, however, when trying to open drawer again, the slightest downward pressure on the frame was again needed to start the process again, each time a drawer opening was set in motion the process stalled until given a slight help with that downward pressure after which process worked OK again until drawer opening initiated again. After working it a number of times, it did start responding as intended, however, after 24 hrs again the same problem returned. As I haven’t used this recorder/player for a long time, I then decided it wasn’t needed and as everything (with exception of deck A – playback deck) was functioning perfectly, here is your chance to get a spare part with reasonable P&P cost, before I consign all of it to the bin.
Having a clear-out therefore no returns
