Item DescriptionReleased in Japan in 1977 during Japan’s “Golden Era” of high-fidelity audiophile equipment, the Sony PS-X9 is, simply put, a masterpiece of a turntable. The PS-X9 was originally designed for professional broadcasting, with a focus on the highest possible quality of playback. As such, it is a very rare piece of equipment, with perhaps only 2000 produced (this number is speculation). Those in exceptional condition are rarer still. The PS-X9 features a captivating utilitarian aesthetic that harks to the intention that it be used in studios and broadcasting rooms, with an oversized platter, a tactile control interface, and a body that seems suited to mounting in a professional console. The sound of the PS-X9 is regarded by listeners as being in a class of its own. Indeed, many who have heard this turntable consider it to be among the best ever produced. This unit comes with the highly-regarded Sony XL-55 Pro moving coil cartridge.
This turntable is in excellent condition, with very little sign of wear (please see photos). It has some minor and not noticeable scratches. This turntable has been thoroughly checked and tested by our professional technician, confirming its flawless operation.
