Sony MDS-JE520 used in my workshop for a few years when MD gained some traction in radio broadcasting, but been sitting gathering dust since 2005.
The unit powers up and plays back audio glitch free, I’ve tested the Record inputs on Analog, S/PDIF, as well as optical.
To verify that the mech is fine over an entire disc, i’ve recorded a 1Khz tone at +3dBu out of an AP test set into the recorder.
The equivalent level is -2dBFS. I’ve monitored the resultant recording on the test set and it is fine. no weird DAC or PASC artefacts.
The test disc (90min) is included as a calibration reference in case you suspect something is amiss in future.
The remote has gone walkies. If i find it it will be included, but as yet there is none.
