Rega Planar 2 turntable with Logic Datum
tonearm and Nagaoka MP11 cartridge
A fully refurbished Rega Planar 2 turntable with a new main bearing
and sub platter, a black phenolic main platter & cork mat,
Logic Datum tonearm, a Nagaoka MP11 cartridge with a new stylus.
The motor drive circuit has been upgraded to the Rega P3 circuit, see final
image attached. All components over rated on voltage for safety and long life.
The Logic Datum 1 arm has been serviced and rewired with all black
colour-coded 26awg silver plated copper and new gold phosphor
bronze tags, fitted with a Nagaoka MP11 cartridge and new stylus.
Cosmetically the arm is not brilliant but works perfectly.
Last couple of these arms sold in ebay for 180 ish
A third party carbon fibre headshell has been fitted.
Outputs have been wired to phono sockets and ground tag in a
new diecast aluminium box under the rear of the arm. New third party
arm lift / rest fitted. The arm is seated on a small white Corian mounting ring.
The lid is third party, picked for its additional height to cope with
the taller tonearm, there is a small gap to the right of the lid,
but this is no big deal. The lid is in excellent condition with friction hinges
which stay up very nicely. Small circle in lid top centre where original logo
has been removed, I’ve made a Rega one 🙂 Original hinges have
been left in place so future users can revert to an original lid if required.
The black phenolic platter is new, but the deck would improve very
nicely if this were to be replaced with glass or Corian. I might have some
black or white Corian platters before too long, keep checking back.
Tracking is spot on, and the whole things sings very
nicely tracking at a fraction under 2 gms.
The plinth is in excellent condition, with just a couple of very minor
marks to the top plate. Cleaned and oiled with linseed oil.
