Up for sale today folks is a STUNNING vintage Metzner Starlight turntable. This is a rare one, and was the crown jewel of a local audiophile’s collection. These rarely turn up, especially in this condition. This one was set up with an Audax KT12 tonearm. Has the original plinth, and is a really nice example. Cosmetically, it does have a few light marks on the brushed aluminum faceplate, and screw wear on the rear end of the tonearm. The cork slip-mat is very clean, and the finish on the plinth is great. The tonearm uses a GE ceramic cartridge, but could easily be converted to a newer one for better audio playback. Using a neat variable speed system, this can play 16 RPM, 33RPM, 45RPM and 78RPM. When locked in place, the speed is dead on and the strobe demonstrates that perfectly. Sonically, it should be properly set up, and I would NOT consider it to be plug and play ready. When plugged in, it produces audio but it is not very loud. Sonically it should be completely gone through. Due to its age, it should be considered a project. This is a simply gorgeous turntable and is in need of a new home. Please view all the photos, and be sure to ask any questions!
