A matched pair of the elegant & beautiful KEF Coda first model 1960’s
When it comes to the best small vintage speakers the Coda is among an illustrious few adored for their ultra compactness and true audiophile level sound. Its driver and tweeter are almost timeless legends along with other speakers of this sound genre which share variants of components, it is probably true to say that the Coda stands alone as the ideal home hifi speaker, since others have the fabulous but dry broadcast sound designed for applications. That can be less accommodating to our moods & perception of natural sound. The Coda is a fully organic domestic Hi FI reference thoroughbred with a soundstage far more conducive to non critical musicality, it is the speaker model with extra breathing space within its famous soundstage among the company.
For specs see ‘Kef History’ online – Coda is of course a cute dinky imp that feels weighty and solid in the hands. The quality of KEF cabinet workmanship and the veneers (so on) need no introduction. When playing those favourite recordings all that is needed is to enjoy as Coda’s deliver the best possible true sound on recordings without alien EQ’s such as extra bass.
Although their full component rebuild was over 5 years ago they are not yet run in therefore are still fresh from that event. Coda like this are exceptionally rare. Cabinet condition is really fine, sharp, and all original with any distraction down to few tiny niks. Kef Coda MK 1’s were supplied originally with a very robust double skinned front grill. Both are fine condition but one has a small slit on the outer of the two ‘skins’ – see photo. Other than this there are no KEF badges or model stickers.
Most importantly of all perhaps is that the rebuild rematched all the KEF specs on all the actual original parts – a lot of KEF speakers out there no longer have matching to factory tolerances due to replacements. This is a genuine rare chance to obtain a very highly sought and scarce Kef model in a superb future proof state. Furthermore these speakers are going up in value all the time by significant amounts so are really a great investment.
