Quad 306 Stereo Power Amplifier is in Excellent Working Order, and good condition.It Delivers 50 Watts of Power Per Channel Into 8 Ohm Speakers. There are a few marks in the paint which you would expect for its age, it will be Supplied with printed Manual and a UK Mains Lead unless going abroad.
From Quad Publicity:”Amplifier design”, it is said, “is simply the application of Ohm’s Law.” Taken with a pinch of salt, fifty years of experience and several hundreds of man hours and the outcome is the Quad 306.The 306 is designed to reproduce music as faithfully as possible with enough power for the vast majority of domestic music systems. The Quad 306 uses a refined and developed version of the feed forward error correction circuit, patented by Quad in 1975, and christened ‘Current Dumping’.Current Dumping has been used by Quad in the 405, 510,and 520 amplifiers and by a number of other manufacturers under a variety of guises. Reduced to its simplest elements the performance of the amplifier is determined solely by the performance of the small very high quality error correction amplifier and four passive components arranged in a bridge. There are no adjustable components and performance cannot change with time. Despite the passage of time since it was patented, Current Dumping remains the most effective circuit technique for high quality amplifiers.A clever circuit technique is no guarantee of performance unless it is allied to good engineering.Good engineering is an intangible quality that is difficult to quantify. It has nothing to do with exotic components or extravagant specifications, but a great deal to do with ensuring that the output signal is an accurate facsimile of the signal at the input. Quad has fifty years experience of good engineering. Performance is only one aspect of amplifier design.
