A really neat speaker switching unit by QED which enables connection and switching of two pairs of loudspeakers (in parallel) from a stereo amplifier. The QED SS20 switching unit comes in a tidy two-tone anodised aluminium outer case with on / off switches at the front and silver-plated contacts at the rear. The curved anodised aluminium fascias and precision moulded buttons of QED’s updated switching accessories give this new range a very contemporary look with excellent shelf’ appeal.
The QED SS20 is a popular choice with our home installation customers using in-ceiling and in-wall speakers. Enables connection and switching of two pairs of speakers (in parallel) from a stereo amplifier.
Benefits Of Series vs Parallel
The switches which have more than two sets of speakers use a combination of series and parallel switching to achieve the minimum impedance of 4 ohms no matter what combination of speakers are switched on. For the two way switches there is a choice between exclusively series or parallel versions. If you have 8 ohm speakers (and a 4 ohm min amp) you should always use the parallel switch. If you have 4 ohm speakers and a 4 ohm min amp you should always use the series switch.
