Up for auction are my long-serving ProAc Response 2.5 loudspeakers. Unfortunately, the right-hand speaker has stopped working. I suspect a component in the crossover has failed. However, I’ve not had this confirmed by a dealer but as it affects both drive units I suspect that this is where the fault lies.
I bought the speakers as an ex-demo model from a ProAc authorised dealer. The dealer used to lend them out for home demonstration so they suffered quite a few scratches in the back of an estate car. The worst of these are on the rear side of the speakers so in normal use they aren’t noticeable. The tweeter foam has deteriorated over the years. I remember seeing some replacements on the internet a few years ago but decided it wasn’t worth doing. I generally used the speakers with their grills on so the foam wasn’t visible. Please look closely at the photographs to assess the cosmetic condition of the speakers.
When working they sounded quite superb and have always been used at modest volumes with a range of amplifiers from a 25w Sugden to a 175w Audio Synthesis.
I have no packaging material suitable and the speakers are very heavy so postage isn’t an option. The speakers are located in Bolton, Greater Manchester and collection is welcome. I would also consider delivering the speakers personally within a reasonable distance. Please contact me with your location prior to bidding.
