Pro-Ject RPM 10 Carbon Turntable
The RPM 10 from Pro-Ject’s is a serious high-end turntable with the ultimate in acoustic performance and luxurious materials. In a contemporary hi-fi system, the workings of the system are normally hidden and controlled by digital apps However, as we know the analogue turntable is at the centre of a real hi-fi system and can be proudly presented just like high-quality loudspeakers.
Pro-Jects RPM range of turntables has been a winning design in analogue sound reproduction. The drop shaped chassis has been shown to have much better resonance characteristics in comparison to regular rectangular shaped chassis’s. To further improve upon a superb turntable design, Pro-Ject unertook extensive R$D, to take the design to the next level.
With an advanced plinth sandwich construction, combining medium density fibreboard (MDF), carbon fibre and steel pellets. The MDF base is CNC-machined with resin-coated steel pellets to give an extra-heavy and precise sandwich construction whilst sophisticated thermal treatment and carbon fibre surface coating on top of the plinth maintains superior low levels of resonance. The mass-loaded chassis is efficiently and effectively decoupled from its surface with magnetic feet.
The heavy outboard motor driving the turntable comes with precision control for the motor and features a built-in switch for the setting of the speeds, either 33 or 45 RPM. This new motor also integrates an electronic DC/AC power generator to clean up any potential AC generated noise.
The tonearm used on the RPM 10 is the highly renowned 10 CC EVO tonearm, crafted from a conical carbon tube and an inverted bearing design that gives superb rigidity with ultimate internal damping. Within the tonearm itself, the internal wiring is very flexible top-grade copper, therefore the tonearm is suitable for almost any high-quality moving magnet or moving coil cartridge. An Additional feature is the inclusion of a TPE-damped counterweight. All of the compnents on the RPM 10 add up to turntable that is more than the sum of its parts.
