Offered for sale – in time warp condition – is this Pioneer PL-514 Semi-Automatic Turntable.
This is a high-performance belt-driven turntable with an auto-return mechanism. Other features include an anti-skating force control, cueing device, detachable dust cover, insulator feet, plug-in SME type headshell and a proper s-shape 70s tonearm.
Check out the reviews on vinylengine. They are all positive with people rightly raving about it. It was and still is an excellent performer.
This example still has the original rubber bumpers to the dust cover and Pioneer kettle lead. It also benefits from a complete overhaul which includes the following work;
auto-return mechanism stripped and re-greased,bearing stripped down, cleaned and greased with specific turntable bearing oil,platter and dust cover mechanically polished,new belt fitted,new cartridge and stylus fitted, arm electronically balanced,auto-return recalibrated,complete cleaning of unit inside and out, capstan, tonearm, etc.,electronic components checked.
It now operates absolutely superbly with the overhaul definately reducing rumble, wow and flutter. It simply sounds excellent.
