Up for auction is a Nakamichi Cassette Deck 2, 2 head stereo cassette deck. The deck is fully serviced and the following repairs have been done:
– Cleaned the heads and the pinch roller.- Cleaned all the old lubricants and lubricate the mechanism using specific synthetic lubricant..
– Upgraded all the old electrolytic caps using new Elna Silmic II audio caps in audio circuit section, Nippon Chemicon caps in logic and power supply circuit sections.
– Upgraded the filter caps of 3300uF in power supply board using 4700uF caps.
– De-carbonized the reel motor.
– Changed the capstan motor. The old one is in working condition, but it’s not so reliable as the motors in earlier Sankyo transports. The wow & flutter is 0.033% to 0.04% WTD RMS.- Checked the playback/record head for correct azimuth, no need for adjustment.- Adjusted all the electronics for correct levels and bias using Maxell UR, TDK SA, SONY metal XR tapes.
All the functions are operating as they should be, playback, record, ff, rew, pause, meter, dolby b & c, fine bias potentiometer. The sound is crystal clear and the frequency response with all the types of tape and Dolby C is flat at 0 db up to 20Khz. Externally the deck is in a very good condition, concerning the age. The faceplate is clean, free of dents, but there is a very light scratch above the cassette door. The top cover is also very clean with a few very light scratches here and there which don’t affect the paint. This is a 120V model with GEAR IDLER. S/N 33852, production date 1991 . With the deck are included copy of the owner’s manual, the old capacitors and the old motor to keep it as a spare part. All the questions are very welcome.
