Here you see a used NAD 533 turntable – their clone of a Rega Planar.
Sporting the NAD badged RB250 tonearm and improved via the Shure M44-7 (DJ) cartridge, it won’t fail to deliver good sounds.
Shure cartridges just seem to have a knack for extracting good bass and the M44-7, used by numerous DJ’s for many years,
makes this a great deck for the likes of trance & house vinyl. Other genres will be reproduced well too e.g. the Gangsters 45
rpm single by The Specials (1979) sounds particularly ‘awesome’.
The original platter is present. Obviously up to you, but I’d treat myself to a glass one were you to take possession.
The drive belt is brand new and was supplied by Isokinetik – another improvement.
The Shure M44-7 cartridge sports an after-market stylus which still has numerous hours left in it.
All tonearm bearings appear sound and the cueing / arm lifting device has just been replaced with a brand new part.
As mentioned, the tonearm is the NAD badged RB250 so will eclipse lesser RB101 or RB110 arms any day of the week !
There are a few grubby marks here and there on the plinth but there are no major scratched or blemishes.
The smoked lid is original and retains both hinge tabs, as does the plinth, so normal operation remains. There are a couple
of minor blemishes on the lid but the red NAD decal is still present. On the whole, the lid is in good condition for it’s age.
So, not perfect cosmetically but there are great sounds to be found here !
