My beloved first amp, the famous NAD 3020e.
29 years old. Was used for years, but finally spent a year in a shed which i later discovered was a bit damp, but upon being brought back into service, was working perfectly for several months until one day it started smoking and not working.
I took the cover off and see that the internal fuses have blown, and there’s a bit of visible rust on the mains transformer. The rest of the insides actually look pretty good. I have not attempted any repairs myself.
This will go to the local recycling centre but i thought I’d offer it here first just incase someone wants to have fun bringing it back to life. It had a lovely warm sound and was surprisingly powerful, when it worked. Rated as near audiophile quality by some…
