Mike Creek MM cartridge phono preamp module for Cambridge Audio Azur & A series amps, GWONote I will be away from 3-7 June. Thanks This is the PM01 phono moving magnet cartridge preamp circuit board designed by amp guru Mike Creek for his high-end amps, and subsequently offered as an optional extra to the A series of Cambridge Audio hifi amplifiers, including the A1, A2, A4, A5, A300, A500 etc and some preamps, as well as the more modern Azur 540A and 640A amps (Ver 1 only – NOT Ver 2 amps).This module plugs over a prearranged set of pins situated near the RCA inputs to enable these amps to offer the extra gain and equalisation required by moving magnet phono cartridges, as fitted to the majority of record players. This upgrade requires no soldering, just removing the amp cover and fitting the module over the pins. Theres a couple of links on the main board (marked with arrows) that need to be cut so the preamp module enters the signal path of the AUX/Phono input and a small nut on an upright screw that should be removed and replaced to secure the board (not really necessary as it’s a tight push fit), but that’s it. Its a very good design and brings vinyl capability to the excellent Azur 540/640 V1 and A series Cambridge amps.With vinyl coming back in a big way, this is the best option for owners of Cambridge Audio amps.When these amps came out, vinyl was out of fashion, so not many are equipped with the phono module, and the boards are hard to come by.Snap up this one for 45 with free Uk (signed for) postage.
