One of the all time greats, very modern sounding and even better now with upgraded power supply caps with the very best Kemet and DNM type Capacitors(cost over 120). SIgnal caps also upgraded with high quality audio caps also audionote and elna caps used as replacement of the older by pass caps. The sound if you are not aware is a cross between a Bryston, Dynavector and NAIM. That should tell you all you need to know. Powerful crisp musical and with great PRAT. The mains switch pilot light was always a little on the fainter side than others I have had (even before the upgrades) but works perfectly.
If you are wondering would it effect the original sound, the answer is Meitners engineer, John Wright recommended these upgrades to me personally as it is part of his own upgrades, and helps rejuvenate the sound from ageing electrolytics! I can confirm that the sound characteristics remain the same but it is now more transparent sounding as well. The woodwork and fascia are in better than good condition.The power on button initially needed everal goes to switch the amp but after using deoxit it seems fine at the moment.I have another one of these but using a different set of capacitors if anyone is interested.
This is a 110v unit. All you need is a 500va step down transformer 240-110/120v, which are plentiful on ebay.
PS the upgrades were done by a Diyer. However the amps have worked flawlessly for the past year since they were upgraded.
