Selling an excellent DAC, which replaced a number of more expensive & reputable machines i used to own (e.g. AMR DP777 SE, Audio-GD R2R7); I am planning to upgrade to a set up costing many times more – hence the sale. This is a custom option with 3 digital inputs (additional 80 GBP), with stock valve being an excellent Genelex 6922 Gold Lion Genalex. The DAC is extremely responsive to valve upgrades.
In as-new cosmetic condition, and perfect working order. Purchased in January 2019, with over 4 years warranty remaining.

DAC1 uses not less then eight matched Phillips TDA1543 DACs in a complex parallel configuration and dual triode tube output stage. As with all of the Lab12 products, each and every part was selected for its sonic value, that benefited to the final sound. Dac1 is the 21st century digital to analog converter, that reassembles the best qualities of the vinyl playback without compromising at any stage. As with all Lab12 products, the DAC1 also comes with the choice of multiple luxury paint finishes.

Reveiw – conclusion
Simply put, the Lab 12 DAC1 SE crushes the price-versus-performance ratio in a totally absurd fashion. It delivers beautiful timbres/tonality, powerful macro-dynamics, an overall analog liquidity, holographic imaging, and tremendous soundstage depth and dimensionality at a price that is at least $10,000 less than other highly acclaimed reference DACs. It will not do DSD or MQA, nor PCM higher than 96/24. But if CDs or streaming music comprise the bulk of your listening, as they do mine, you can have world class, reference level digital reproduction for pennies on the dollar as compared with its closes competition.
