I’m a professional repairer/restorer of vintage audio and radio equipment. The lockdown has meant that I have some time on my hands and so I’m using it to list accumulated stuff I’ve been meaning to clear out for a long time! This is a Goldring GL75 turntable. I refurbished this for my own use a couple of years ago (details below) but have literally never used it since the refurb, so here it is.
It comes with its original Goldring plinth and cover. Both are in excellent general condition. The perspex has one or two minor scratches, but IMHO these really are minor. Plinth is pretty much immaculate. Put it this way: the turntable has been sitting in my lounge for the past two years without offending my eye, and I’m fussy!
The turntable itself is also in good cosmetic condition. The only obvious scratch is a small one on the edge of the decor plate, which I’ve tried to show in closeup in one of the pics.
The refurb included new V-blocks and new sintered bronze turntable sleeve bearings (rare for a refurb to include these because they are tricky to fit properly). This is now one of the few original GL75s whose platter doesn’t wobble! I replaced the main bearing ball as a matter of routine, but not the thrust washer because it was in excellent condition. Motor bearings were adjusted and lubricated. Original idler (NB metal, not plastic) checked and lubricated. Arm set up. (Arm is fitted with original headshell and Goldring cartridge.) Newly fitted indicator lamp to show when turntable is switched on.
Even though the work was done a couple of years ago, the turntable has had literally no use since then (apart from an occasional spin to keep everything free) so it’s basically no-hours.
Shipping is expensive not because I’m trying to make money out of it, but because this needs careful and extensive packing to try to minimise the chances of damage in transit.
Can’t think of much to add, but if you have any questions feel free to ask.
