FERGUSON 3016 MAINS TRANSISTOR 4-SPEED DUAL SPEAKERS MULTICHANGE RECORD PLAYER
SIMPLE REPAIRREQUIRED
This lovely example of a Ferguson 3016 record player wasworking perfectly until recently. I had played an album and two singles which I had bought on eBayperfectly – lovely sound and loads of volume. Two weeks later I bought another single and went to play it. The difference this time was that all I couldhear was a tinny sound – no volume – nothing.
On asking around, I was told it was probably the cartridgewhich had gone, so I looked up how to change a cartridge. Simple, I thought (Error #1), until Irealised my tone arm was nothing like the one I had seen in the video. Undaunted, I continued and took out a coupleof screws, but in the process one of the 4 thin wires from the cartridge to thehead snapped. I then decided to loosenthe tone arm so I could see the problem much better. Error #2! A spring from under the tone arm dropped into the hole beneath thecluster. It was at this stage I decidedto call it a day and leave it to an expert.
I clearly am not that expert, so was not willing to try tostrip the wire and solder it back on. Iasked around to ascertain whether anyone knew of someone who could repair it,but to no avail. I still have not foundanyone to repair it, so consequently I am now reluctantly offering thiswonderful machine for repair (I still have the bits in a bag).
The price asked is theselling price – when fixed it will fetch at least double. This item is for collection only as I dontwant more bits falling off.
