Designed by Iconic AudioTechnics since 1994
Lid for Technics SL-1210 or SL-1200  MK2 – MK3D – MK5 – M5GThis is a high quality item – crafted byhand
The cover rests on 4 small rubber feet. I have kept their profile very discreet as I really wanted the cover to showcase the turntable. The cover then effectively acts both as protection and a display case for the fine piece of technology underneath. Please see my feedback and you’ll see there is not a disappointed customer out there and I’ve sold over 600.

About Me

I’ve worked with Technics for 20 years and as you will see from my feedback I have been a reliable eBayer since 2003.

You will also see from my feedback that I sell several serviced Technics turntables around Europe every month and I only have excellent feedback.

The last photo features just part of my Technics collection.

If you collect or view at my house you will see from all the memorabilia on the walls, I’ve supplied or looked after decks and other equipment for all sorts of artists. Just to mention a few – Jurassic 5, Michael Mayer, DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Agoria, Matthias Tanzmann, Daniel Bell, Andrew Weatherall, Four Tet, Caribou, Claude Vonstroke, Eddie Richards,  Green Velvet, Jamie Jones, Terry Francis, Phil Weeks, Chris Carrier, Desyn Masiello, Mark Farina, Robag Wruhme, Sascha Funke, Matias Aguayo, Alex Smoke, Rob Mello, Andy Votel Gruff Rhys, Cherrystones, Dave Mothersole, Octave One, Phonique, Stacey Pullen etc etc etc

About The Lids

So basically I’ve seen a lot of Technics over the years and getting sick and tired of Technics lids breaking so easily, I decided to design and make one myself… with the help of a friend in the plastics industry.

I thought about the design long and hard and decided the primary need was to have a lid that was robust. Something that doesn’t scratch, crack, flex or shatter as easily as the original Technics lid. I also decided that it needed to be something that wasn’t over engineered, so that it doesn’t detract from the beauty of the iconic piece of technology it protects.

Inspired by seeing a Technics turntable in the Science Museum, I opted for a design that also acts as a display cabinet… showcasing, rather than obscuring this seminal turntable.

The lids are the same height, width and depth as the original Technics lids and therefore fit perfectly.

The Design Process

We first made prototypes by Injection Moulding (how Technics original lids were made) and also by Vacuum Forming, but we didn’t feel the quality was there and therefore decided that handcrafting them was the only way to achieve true quality… so that’s what we’ve done

These items are made by hand and therefore quality is guaranteed.
