DUAL CS 503  a la THORENS+ORTOFON/DUAL CARTRIDGE, *AUDIOPHILE CONCEPT* TURNTABLE.  SEE ALL PHOTOS.’a la Rega Planar-2, Project Debut, Nad 533′. Slim, low profile very modern looking Turntable, sharing the exactfeatures and technology of the equivalent Thorens unit and, for those thatfavour this mod, minimalist look – carrying an appearance, very similar to theRega Planar-2, Project Debut, Nad 533 etc. On its own though this is a lovely, well regarded DUAL CS 503 turntable.Note even up to present the Thorens 240-2 uses almost the exact arm inits current model/s, AND, current Thorens TD 240-2, TD 190-2 , TD 170-1 and TD158 other than looking really, really similar are in the main, just re-labelled Dual turntables.This unit is in very good condition. This plinth is very smart, Tone arm andother associated bits very good and so importantly the lid is in the mainsparkingly clear. Sound is really good and as many would testify responds quitewell to up market cartridges.  Reviews vinylengine:Turntableguru: Decent turntable, with the Dual 5052/4 arm. Quiet as some direct drives. Uncharacteristically warm for a turntableusing an engineered resin plinth. On par with a Rega Planar2, worlds ahead ofmodern units like the Teac AN-300 or Denon PF300. Definitely grab one if youfind one!Harvey Turner: Bought in 1989 – Ok, its basicbut it balances well, looks good and has not let me down in 26 years…andstill going strong. Improved even further when I started buying different cartridges. Brilliant BeltDrive TurntableBanerjba: Not a bad table. Frankly I haveowned and used Duals for 30 years and never heard a really bad one. 503 was aleaner sounding version of the 505 back in the mid to late 1980s. They stillmake a version of this with the Dual and Thorens name plates. Put anice ortofon cart on it and away you go. Enjoy the vinyl.Stereo.net: The Dual 503 is areasonable, low cost TT. The arm is excellent, given the cost. It would bepossible to fit the 503 with a very good cartridge and obtain excellentperformance.Specifications – vinylengineType: Tacho controlled DC motorPlatter speeds: 33.33 and 45 rpmWow and flutter: 0.035% WRMSPlatter: non magnetic, removable 304mmdiameterTonearm: distortion free aluminium tubulartonearmSignal to noise ratio: 70dB rumble (weighted)Effective tonearm length: 211mmOffset angle: 26 degreesOverhang: 19.5mmTracking force: 1.5-2.0gFrequency range: 10Hz to 22kHzNote: This item carries invisible security markings, inside and out.
