Up for grabs is this pair of Celestion F1 audiophile speakers which work on speaker stands or on a bookshelf. You can tune the sound to your room with foam in the rear port if using on a bookshelf. I have upgraded to a pair of F30’s as I liked these so much.
The are in very good cosmetic condition as you can see and perfect working order. See the photos for the condition.
The size is 175 x 260 x 175mm (W x H x D) and they weigh 3.4kg each. Very solid. Depth is more like 190mm with the front grills on.
Ratings are: 70 Watt, 8 Ohms, 88 db.
They sound great – plenty of punch for their size. I found these reviews on line . .
I hooked them up to a 100 Watt per channel AUDIOSOURCE Amp, tossed on some Andrs Segovia and I was just WOW’ed! I suspect these little F1’s are designed for “smaller scale” music but, the detail/quality of sound coming from (what I believe) was about a two hundred dollar per pair Speakers is mind blowing. I’ve always had a soft spot for small English Speakers. Now, if these entry level (circa ?) English Speakers can sound this good, I wonder what one gains in English Monitors as one moves up the food chain ?
Having heard his speakers that cost around 25 times more, many times, he auctioned the F1’s placing them on top of the cabinets and I was blown away by the overall quality. No they didn’t do what the huge expensive speakers could, however, they still sounded very, very good. The bass is a very modern affair from the 4″ woofer and is capable of really delivering. The mids and trebles will fill most rooms nicely.
