A pair of quality vintage hifi speakers in excellent condition. The speakers are Castle Acoustics, Richmond model, made in Skipton, Yorkshire. They were bought in March 1976 and have only ever been owned and used by me. They were well used for the first six years but thereafter have been only lightly used and have been very carefully stored, out of use, for the last 10 years (due to me not having a fully functional hifi system).These speakers have been tested recently and they sound very good, as they always did – strong and clear, with good tone across the range (in my opinion) and a powerful bass. They are in extremely good condition for their age and are very solidly built. The two speaker cabinets each measure 41.5 cm high, 23 cm wide and 25 cm from front to back. They have two speakers in each cabinet, 11 and 4 cm diameter, and a sound hole. Each weighs 7.5 kg and they are in fairly dark wood cabinets (I think veneer). The exteriors are in very good condition throughout, apart from a few very small chips in the surface on the top edge at the back of one cabinet (see photo). There are removable dark grey fabric front grilles, in good condition.Technically, the instruction sheet says that the speakers have a DIN 45 500 rating of 25 watts, implying that they will cope with signals from amplifiers of up to 25 watts over channel (can cope with up to 50w provided that is just a transient peak). Suitable for an amplifier requiring 4 to 8 ohms impedance load.
For the safety of these valuable items, collection in person (with cash payment) would be preferred (near Church Stretton, south Shropshire), but if sent by courier they will be well packed in their original box.Any questions please message me.
