The Unit has good cosmetics and excellent working condition, never been repaired or upgraded – everything is original. Fantastic sound reproduction: dynamic, light, airy and crystal clear sound with amazingly fast and articulated bass response.
This advanced pre-amplifier is manually operated. It has an unbalanced line level source selection unit forselecting the signal level of up to 6 unbalanced input signal sources. It is for use prior to the main high poweramplification of a quality hi-fi system. Its features are as follows:To keep the analogue (music) signal pure, the Chord Electronics micro controller acts only to control DClines which select control relays thereby keeping the stereo signal free from ultra high frequency (UHF)data signal corruption. Each stereo channel input selector has its own separate printed circuit board. Thereare a total of 26 ultra high performance hermetically sealed relays within each unit. The micro controlleralso has its own independent power supply as have the relays. The CPA 1800 features our own customelectro-luminescent (gas discharge) display with clear 20mm high characters giving a precise, easily visiblereadout event at a distance. The display defines the source & output selected. The design of the digital andanalogue circuitry has been implemented with great care in decoupling and extensive star earthing with thestarring points extending right to each component in most cases from the star point. Sixteen earth lines goto each of the right and left channel input select printed circuit boards. There are a total of 4 printedcircuit boards within each unit.
