In superb condition – (double) Boxed SME 3009 S2 Improved Fixed Headshell Tonearm
Serviced and complete with everything you need to fit and enjoy this lovely 3009 S2 Improved Fixed Headshell tonearm immediately upon receipt.
An opportunity to acquire a fully overhauled Boxed and complete SME 3009 S2 Improved Fixed Headshell Tonearm.
I have re-commissioned this lovely 3009 and carried out the following work:
Checked the wiring loom which is in excellent condition – being a late model Improved the wiring is of a higher quality and the Cartridge Tags are much more reliable and not as flimsy or weak as with the older version wiring looms.
Serviced the Cueing assembly in accordance with the SME Service Sheet using the correct SME Dashpot Fluid, needless to say it is working perfectly lowering the Arm very slowly and carefully, Removed, cleaned, checked and correctly adjusted the Pillar Bearings. The horizontal Bearings are perfect without play or stickiness, lateral movement being totally smooth and linear.Cleaned and examined the Knife Edge Bearings and Seating Groove – both being in perfect condition.The SME Interconnect is in good condition with firm connections I have fitted the Headshell with an S2-R Fingerlift which makes Cartridge installation much easier and means the Cartridge is an integral part of the Headshell. The cosmetic condition is beautiful – the Armtube is unmarked and the satin finish camera chrome castings are blemish free. The Tonearm even retains the original polythene bag that it came from the factory with.

The Series 2 Fixed headshell version of the 3009 is the purer designwith the lowest possible mass being only 5.5 grams offering a significant improvement in trackability and all round definitionplus cleaner bass and low sensitivity to external shock and feedback- toquote SME and they should know.
