FOR SALE: A Bang & Olufsen Beogram 1000 with the Black metal finish.
Complete with B&O branded cartridge and SP 6-7 stylus
Lid & instruction manual both included, along with original polystyrene box.
Functional condition:
Turntable powers on.
Platter turns very slowly and almost stops when the stylus is applied to a record. Suspect that this is a belt replacement problem but I have not inspected it internally to confirm.
I connected it to my Rotel amp, and records played through the amp fine, albeit very very slowly. There was a hum noise when I initially picked up the tonearm, which might suggest a grounding issue…but it didn’t carry on.
Cueing arm operates fine [up/down]
Speed selector seems to be operating ok, but is very hard to tell given the platter speed. The fine adjustment is however very stiff – it doesn’t move at all, and I didn’t try to force it.
Continental 2 pin plug and 5 pin DIN connector present.
Cosmetic condition:
Generally very good condition.
Lid is little discoloured with age and there are some marks visible if you angle it to the light – see photo – but complete and without cracks. The B&O badge on the lid is in excellent condition.
Front left corner – above BEOGRAM 1000 sign – the black metal finish is worn through in a couple of places – see photo.
Veneer in very good condition. No splits or worn areas.
Two piece polystyrene box in complete condition, but there is one split at one corner of one piece.
Manual in good condition for age.

I am no longer sending out turntables in the post. [We package diligently, and the couriers are fine, but I had a ‘changed mind’ return once and the buyer basically hadn’t bothered to re-pack it properly, and it came back in pieces.] These are my last few pieces so…collection only please.
I will happily demonstrate the deck during collection in a socially distanced environment in the garage.
PayPal preferred but cash on collection ok.
(I have a few other B&O pieces up for auction which might be worth checking out if it is a long journey for collection.)
