For auction:
Very rare Bang & Olufsen Beovox M150 speakers in rosewood with stands.
In the 80’s these were B&O’s flagship speakers usually bought with the flagship 8000 system.
They were designed to reproduce sound to frequency levels outside the range of human hearing to give the ultimate sound quality.
These are big speakers and the sound is amazing, the low frequencies extend well below what you can hear but you can feel it.
I bought them a few years ago off a guy in Brighton who was one of the top guys at IBM in the UK from the 60’s through to the early 90’s when he retired. He bought a full 8000 system and these speakers in the early 80’s.
The speakers were immaculate when I purchased them with just a bit of foam rot on the woofers which I had replaced by a specialist.
The woofers were made for B&O by peerless so I used a peerless speaker specialist to replace the foams as they could get OE spec foam surrounds.
Over the years I’ve had them I had them powered by an 8000 system but due to divorce and downscaling my property the system has since been sold but I just couldn’t bring myself to part with these amazing speakers but there’s no point them keep sitting in the loft so it’s time for them to go.
These are BIG speakers and are very very heavy so collection only from Bolton, Lancashire.
I’d always wanted a set of these as when I was a teenager in the 80’s my favourite record shop had a B&O system with a pair of these speakers hung from the ceiling and the sound was always the best I’d ever heard.
Just by way of testing I got one down from the loft (2 man job) and have it wired to my home cinema system and I’ve had to turn the bass way down as it was as making the house shake on explosive films! You don’t need a sub with a pair of these!.
There are some very small marks on the cabinets but only really visible close up.
Value wise I’m not sure what they’re worth and I’ve seen them go for up to 500 on the rare occasions they do come up for sale so I’ll set a realistic reserve and let’s see what happens.
