Bang & Olufsen BeoSound Century Music System with Radio, Cassette & CD Player
This smart music system dates from 1997 and has had one private owner since new. Featuring an AM/FM radio, cassette player/recorder, CD player and an auxiliary input, the Century is a perfect choice for those
who like to keep things neat and compact and can be wall or table mounted using dedicated B&O mounting solutions (not included but available elsewhere).
The unit features Bang & Olufsen’s clever ‘magic door’; the glass covering the centre of the unit slides silently to one side at the wave of a hand. Once out of the way, a motorised clamper mechanism allows CD loading,
whilst all other functions are easy to use thanks to backlit buttons which only illuminate if their purpose is applicable to the chosen source. Very clever!
Fitted with smart Dark Grey cloth speaker covers, this Century looks very smart indeed. Sound quality is very good indeed, with a rich, powerful output that belies the size of this shallow, compact unit.

Condition: Aside from a small pull to the top right hand side of the fabric (pictured), this system is in fantastic order and has clearly been cared for throughout it’s life.
Functionality: Fully tested before listing, where the cassette player was sadly found to have a fault. When a tape is loaded, the spools turn, but the head seems to ‘catch’ on the ribbon and it pulls it out.
I’m not sure if a good service would remedy this; sadly it’s not worth me paying an engineer to have a look. The radio and CD player play without fault though – and the sound quality is amazing!!
Extras: The Century will be supplied with either a UK 3-pin or EU 2-pin power cable. Please specify which you’d like upon ordering.
Conclusion: A lovely music system which offers fantastic sound at a very agreeable price – and a true modern B&O ‘design classic’!
