Here for auction are my ‘pride & joy’ B&W Bowers & Wilkins CM1 CONCEPT 90 Stereo Speakers. Penned by well-renowned industrial designer Sir Kenneth Grange (famously responsible for the nose of the 125 Intercity Train) These B&W speakers are often found paired with the corresponding CM2 floor standing speakers – but with their short isolating stands the CM1s on their own, make for a brilliant sounding book shelf/cabinet speakers/monitors.
This particular pair of CM1s were originally supplied to Abbey Rd. Studios, but were found unused in their store cupboard by friend’s father who worked there as a Studio Manager, knowing I was looking for some speakers at the time, he arranged to purchase them off his employer’s & then onto me – sadly I have no written evidence of this – but it always made them a little more special to me. The speakers are fully working & are in good condition (especially given their age) – but I would like to point out that the original ‘soft’ touch finish to the casing of the main speaker bodies has now gone strangely ‘sticky’ – I think that with a scrub with a suitable cleaner would remove this sticky layer & reveal a better looking finish beneath – but so far I haven’t been brave enough to attempt this! Please study the photos to show the true condition of the speakers.
This pair of CM1s come complete with original box (though sadly the polystyrene internals are not present) & instructions – also the original speaker grilles – I never used to use these with the grilles fitted – as in my opinion they look rather ugly!
Due to the size & weight of these speakers – with their box – I am only offering these for collection only from my home address in Wellingborough (Northamptonshire)
