Classic Audiolab 80000C Pre Amplifier in black, it’s the more desirable later black version with gold plugs. With upgraded PSU capacitor replacing the old Elna cap for extra smoothness and openness. Legendary British Hifi Sound.
Perfect when partnered with 8000P or M power amplifiers, but can work well with other brands too (I tried with Marantz to good effect).
One of the best features of this amp is the phono stage, which beats or matches any single unit you can buy for under 300. It has MM and MC inputs and is built using discrete transistors, so no cheap op-amps which are common these days.
The physical condition looks good when placed in the music system, but there is some wear from age (one of the corners is scuffed…see photos).
