Thecompact super tweeters are designed to both compensate for high frequency roll off, increase frequesncy range up to 40 kHz and provide a +3dBgain that is a doubling of sound pressure level contribution to the highfrequency spectrum of music, at and above the crossover frequency at thespecified sensitivity (90dB)Thesesuper tweeters have an integral a fully phase corrected Linkwitz Riley second order -12dB/octavecrossover that is set to 10kHz that provides anoticeable spectral contribution to music.Theaddition of the super tweeters to a loudspeaker system provides a perceivedincrease in music clarity, detail and air to music, especially vocals and percussion,however the audible results of super tweeters does depend on the spectralcontent of music, as super tweeters can only reproduce high frequency contentof the music being reproduced. AMT type (Air Motion Transducer) tweeters use ground breakingtransducer technology from the original Heil Air Motion Transformer concept toprovide ultra-clean, detailed, and dynamic high frequency reproduction. Thepleated aluminium laminated kapton ribbon diaphragm of an AMT provides a largeacoustic radiating area condensed into a compact chassis, for extremely highoutput for its size and improved power handling. Additionally they have a veryflat frequency response.The discernible motion of each diaphragm flexure is very small, butbecause of the folded structure, more air is moved more than would be by aconventional cone or electrostatic driver of the same plotted surface area. Asa matter of surface comparison, although the folded driver design is only 20 mm x 20mm it has an effective radiating surface of 80 mm x 20 mm, thiscombined with the small motion range, means the AMT acts like a point sourceversion of a larger driver, inherently resulting high output and lowerdistortion compared to a conventional ribbon tweeter and dome tweeter (see picture 5)
On the rear of the supper tweeters there is an attenuation switch to ajust the sensitivity between 0dB / -3dB /-6dB to suit the host loudspeakers sensitivity or personal preference.
