AIWA AP-2300 (SONY) *BRILLIANT *SERVICED, *STONE RESIN, *DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLE.
Even upon first viewing this immediately is recognised as a quality machine!
**Vinylengine (all edited) – blindroofer: Solid, material above average. Heavy and a workhorse with mechanics that won’t let you down and great feeling in the knobs and buttons. I own and owned a lot of nice turntables from Technics, Thorens, Sony and so on and this turntable is a sleeper. Liked it a lot!
*snafu: Agree with blindroofer, this is a sleeper… hefty weight, super Japanese quality build with direct drive motor, fully adjustable feet and simple, precise pitch adjustment on both speeds. Rumble is very low. Just restored one, all that needed replacing were 4 x Rifa caps (split like they always are) and the neon strobe bulb. A better, turntable than the Dual CS-505.
*prinssimikko – Sturdy, realiable player. No problems after years of heavy use!
Very often audiophiles delight in finding an item that defies convention and performs seriously in excess of expectation. This Aiwa AP-2300 Turntable is one of these rare gems. Aiwa is an audio oddity, possibly because it was a somewhat niche player (..latterly a division of Sony Audio Corp.), building superb Tape Decks like the Aiwa XK-S 9000 or slightly lower down, the also brilliant Aiwa AD-F 770 and similar,…and also for those who spent time in the US the finest of micro systems like the A60 and similar (Google these – all very interesting). They also built outstanding (equally ‘unheard of’ ) Turntables Aiwa AP-2600, AP-2500 etc, that here easily stand up well against our much modified Technics SL-1210, etc.
Offered for sale here is an AIWA AP-2300 – ”STONE RESIN’ bodied Direct Drive Turntable. As with all quality Record Players, this is a heavy unit. Even when compared to contemporary units, this turntable sits significantly more squat and purposefully than most – its weight an obvious advantage, but the the Stone Resin Body also further very solid and impact/resonant resistant, making for a deep rich very fulfilling sound. This is a beautiful machine. It carries an excellent arm well able to support quality, up to moving coil cartridges. It does carry minor marks from previous usage but in the main is in very good used condition. Fitted with a new Audio Technica Cartridge/Stylus.
