TECHNICS SL-D2 -*SERVICED* CLASSIC *DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLE + CARTRIDGE. *SEE ALL PHOTOSTechnics builds superbTurntables. Their Direct Drive units are legendary. This SL-D2 model was USStereo Review Magazine Hi-Fi Grand Prix Award Winner in its time. Condition ofthis unit is very good indeed. The plinth, platter and mat etc. are in superbcondition. The tone arm, weights and associated bits are brilliantly sparkly. The lid shows signs of usage but is in the main clear and fully functional. This machine reproduces soundas good as any high end machine, offering brilliant clarity and detail withfantastic imaging. Seems a simple assumption, but like it’s big brother theSL 1200; the better the cartridge used, the better performance is,…right upuntil it becomes silly to spend more. Many other units we have used have a muchlower ‘improvement’ ceiling. This unit can, with the right cartridge, placementand additional anti-resonant material, come close to if not even rival itssuperior relative above. Note the hinges have been reinforced – as is oftenrecommended in audio forums for this model series. We are the second owners. From previous ownership, and not very noticeable, are perfectly formed faintcircular marks near the tone arm. This is a fantastic machine in excellentcondition. It looks very good and sounds superb. See All Photos.Reviews – audiokarmaSteveH: I’ve had an SL-D1 (fully manual version of the SL-D2) since Ibought it new in ’79. It’s a workhorse of a turntable that has outlasted a lotof other equipment in my life. I still use it regularly, mostly for rock andblues in my second system. Great piece of equipment in my opinion.Illini: It’s a darn good table. Keep it for life.Isotonic: I love the SL-D2. It is a solid turntable.KentTeffeteller: The SL D2 is good enough to make you sit and listen to lots ofrecords setup carefully with a good cartridge. Owning one made me rediscover myvinyl. And it is more than good turntable wise. And reliable and well-made andhas a good tonearm which is great with many MM, MI, and some MC cartridges.
