About this NAC102
This superb pre-amp is a late 1996 example and has been extremely well looked after. Its in excellent condition, full working order and has the optional and highly desirable NA522 phono boards – fitted by a dealer from new.
The superb NA522 MM boards means it will accept a turntable with Moving Magnet cartridge. These alone are worth over 140 if bought new and are still fitted in Naims new phono pre-amps at a much higher cost.
As youd expect, its in full working order with smooth controls and all the input switches working correctly. All LEDs work, including the main Naim Audio logo.
The cosmetic condition is also excellent with unblemished front and rear panels. The casing is also in very good condition and free from major marks. Please take a look at the photos for a personal appraisal and to see just how nice this example is.
As well as being in excellent condition, this example also comes with its original NARCOM 2 system remote control and both NAPSC and HiCap blanking plugs. A professional reprint instruction manual and genuine Naim packaging (not original to pre-amp) is also supplied.
About the NAC102
The NAC 102 was the last Olive amp released by Naim. As such it represents what many believe was the high point in Naims history, when the company was still led by its founder, Julian Vereker.
Priced at over 1000 new in the mid-nineties this was and, indeed still is, a high quality component. The new equivalent is the NAC 202 and now costs 2100. These days the NAC 102 is under-rated and is superb value for the sound and build quality on offer. The NAC 102 combines what is best about the older NAC 72 with the functionality of the newer NAC 82 model – at a fraction of the cost.
It has the characteristic Naim-sound with amazing pace, rhythm and timing but, unlike the NAC 62 and NAC 72 combines this with a wide range of features, including remote control.
Ideally, the NAC 102 should be matched with the NAP 180 or NAP 200 power amps but its easily good enough to partner the NAP 250/HiCap or, at the other end, one of the slimline Naim power amps – NAP 90, NAP 150, NAP 150X or NAP 155XS.
Like all the best Naim amps it can also be upgraded as funds allow. With three power supply upgrades – NAPSC, HiCap and SuperCap – you can take the NAC 102 to a very high-end level.
As with all Naim pre-amps, the NAC 102 needs to be powered by a Naim power amp (up to and including the NAP 180/NAP 200) or a HiCap/SuperCap. It has no mains lead and it is not recommended to be partnered with other brands of power amp.

Hi-Fi World – Percussion possesses a bite and lack of overhang that makes it sound as though theres a V12 engine and turbocharger in there. (tested with NAP 180)
