Up for sale is a Quad 33 303 pre and power amp, together with an FM3 tuner. This was purchased as part of an untested job lot, and I’m not overly keen on vintage amps, hence the sale. It comes with the original booklet and the circuit schematics.
I’ve connected it all together and it works apart from the left channel. I’ve opened it up to see if there was anything odd on the inside, however it all looks clean. It has even been serviced in November 2011 by Quad themselves.
I’m not one who has the time or knowledge to tinker with this type of equipment, so it’s up for sale in an as is state. The exterior is clean, the lights on the preamp, radio and the back of the power amp all light up as they should, and it comes with all the cables to connect them up (power cables for all 3 units, interconnect from tuner to preamp and another from preamp to power amp).
The person I bought them from had I inherited them from family, and according to them, they’ve been unused for the last few years. It may be a simple fix or something that I’m overlooking, or it could require a service to fix.
Due to weight, the amp is collection only from Surrey Quays SE8, cash on collection. No exceptions to this I’m afraid as it is quite heavy, I don’t have a suitable box and postage would be expensive. I’m happy to demo it on collection, however because of the wiring, I can only connect the radio to the amp to show you how it works. I’ve got an old aerial cable that I’ve connected, and it does improve the FM signal, however it’s not an original aerial (and a pretty poor cable at that) so there is still some static when listening to the radio.
