I am reconfiguring the living room so need to make some space.
Time to lose the 1990s hifi. The storage on offer was bought much more recently.
This set up is ideal as a starter kit for someone also concerned about their hi-fi aesthetic at home. The speaker stands were selected especially to match the size of the speakers so a sleek silhouette would not dominate the space. If this sort of thing is what you consider before you’ve even taken a record out of its sleeve, this Gumtree listing may be for you.
Everything you need to get started is here, just plug your own separate/s into the back of the amp and you’re good to go. Turntable, CD player, iPod, phone, radio or whatever, just hit play, crank up the volume (no need to overdo it) and listen.
Some of this stuff was originally purchased from London’s seminal hifi boutique, The Cornflake shop.
I’m also offloading some kit that has been stored away in a cupboard so it’s been untouched for some time.

CAMBRIDGE AUDIO A1MK3 AMP:
Synonymous with quality build and detailed texture, Cambridge Audio is a highly respected company in the hi-fi world. This was a back-up amp in paranoid times when I thought I couldn’t live without music so thought I should have a back-up amp in case my other amp failed. This way I could just swap them and keep playing music. Needless to say, the other amp did not fail so this has been sitting in a cupboard for more than 12 years untouched. Barely used. Mint condition.
Instruction manual and remote control included.
Still sounds powerful and warm when given a run-out.

REGA KYTE SPEAKERS
Purchased from The Cornglake Shop. Cute 2 way speakers from seminal, British hi-fi developers Rega. Ideal for those who don’t see hi-fi assembly as a peeing contest. We don’t all need speakers the size of your gran’s bungalow. Unless you live in a mansion, you can’t get far enough away from huge speakers to hear the optimum sound anyway. These are a nice size for a decent listening system.
One issue many Rega speakers had was the brittleness of the rear casing around the connectors. This had a tendency to shear off as has been the case with these speakers. They still work fine but the sockets for the speaker banana plugs sit further into the speaker casing than when new. It’s not a problem plugging the cables in and all sounds fine. Please do not buy unless happy with this condition.

REGA FLAT SPEAKER CABLE
Also purchased from the Cornflake shop. This is 5 metres of top quality speaker cable manufactured by Rega to compliment all models in their speaker range.
One end of the cables has banana plugs to plug straight into the speaker. The other end is bare, ready to be clamped onto the output connections at the back of the amp. Though, if preferred you can add banana plugs to these ends too.
Dimensions:
Each cable provides an almost 2 metres to each speaker.
TARGET SPEAKER STANDS:
Also from The Cornflake Shop. 2 stylish, pricey, solid, sturdy speaker stands that provide excellent support and optimise sound performance for these Rega Kyte speakers. Supplied with floor spikes suitable for all floor surfaces. The top plate can be used flat or fitted with studs or if you prefer, there are 6 studs available (you need 8) or you can pick up isolation pads cheaply on eBay.
For an extra 12 I have a set of stylish, recessed brass floor protectors I can hrow in (handy if placing these stands onto a wooden floor).

Stands have wear commensurate with age, still do their job a treat. Sturdy but sleek unlike the macho Atacamas that were all the rage back then.
Filled with treated sand for ballast. These stands will not topple over due to the compacted sand that now lies inside. Not regular sand which is damp and bad for speaker stands.
VINYL STORAGE:
There are 3 vinyl storage module units, each holds approximately 80 vinyl 12 inch records, so that’s storage for a collection of up to 240 records. Quality craftsmanship. made to order, not the cheapo self-assembly stuff that’s off the shelf and goes wonky as soon as you load up 10 albums. This is sturdy, quality work with strong joints that keep the bold wood’s shape. The boxes are heavy even when empty so your vinyl tower will not topple over – just make sure you load from the bottom box upwards.

CD/DVD STORAGE:
There are 2 CD or DVD storage module units, each holds approximately 50 DVDs or up to approximately 70 CDs. Quality craftsmanship. made to order, not the cheapo self assembly stuff that’s off the shelf. This is sturdy, quality work with strong joints that keep the bold wood’s shape. In the images these units are being used to store paperback books. Shots of the empty units will be uploaded at the weekend.
Colour: unpainted exterior. One has a white interior.

In total you can store 240 vinyl records and 210 CDs (or 70 CDs and 100 DVDs or numerous books)
The pieces are stackable so you can use the three 12 inch vinyl boxes to create a platform for the amp and any separates you wish to add; a tower that is just over one metre tall. Ideal operational height from a standing position. And alongside you can stack the 3 DVD/CD units on top of each other. The CD and DVD modular units can also be screwed to the wall. All the storage is well finished so can be easily painted by you to match your own interiors, if preferred.
