It’s time to sell my wonderful Rotel RC-971 control amplifier (preamp) after many years of use.
This preamp has been used to drive a number of different power amps over the years and has performed faultlessly and superbly.
Sound quality is stunning and with 2 sets of per-outs, it can be connected to multiple power amps in a number of ways.
Cosmetically far from perfect – the top cover is scarred/scored quite badly due to house moves etc., but could be easily resprayed if someone wanted to bring it back to as-new condition. None of this affects the sound quality of course.
It was also recently upgraded – the standard two-channel op-amp IC for the volume control was replaced with two high-quality Burr Brown OPA627AP single-channel op-amp ICs and this has lifted the sound quality to another level!

Reason for sale – I’m upgrading my preamp to Cyrus, though having played this Rotel through a Cyrus power amp, I was amazed by the quality and am not sure how much of an upgrade it will be!
