The Pioneer PL-PM2000, released in Japan in 2000, is a high-end direct drive turntable that sounds amazing and has a really cool story. Pioneer really went above and beyond with this turntable. Now, the really unique thing about this turntable is that the plinth is made from 100-year-old whisky barrel wood which was used by Suntory (maker of the now world-famous Yamazaki Japanese whisky) for whisky aging for about 50 years! How cool is that! It embodies the Japanese mindset of reusing high-quality materials to add character and reduce waste. The PL-PM2000 turntable was a super limited run to celebrate the turn of the millenium, with only 1000 existing in the world. Besides its awesome looks and story, the PL-PM2000 sounds excellent. Pioneer is well known for its fantastic Golden Era (1970s-1980s) turntables, and they have built on that legacy with this wonderful unit. By virtue of the extremely solid construction and oversized platter, pitch accuracy with the PL-PM2000 is phenomenal. This turntable has low wow and flutter (0.02% [WRMS]) and high SNR (78 dB). The PL-PM2000 is a turntable that is both beautiful and a pleasure to listen to. Dont miss it!
This turntable is in excellent condition, with only minor wear (see pictures), including small scratches and some aging on the RCA cable (last pic). The dust cover back side has some cracks (please see dust cover policy below). The unit has been thoroughly tested by our professional technician, confirming its otherwise flawless operation. Both 33 and 45 settings work perfectly, and the platter rotation is like clockwork.
